My Edinburgh Family
Finally we managed to get a decent pic together. Here we are us four, Andrew (back), Toni (left), Me (centre) and Liza (Right). To get everyone up to date, Andrew, Toni and I are Maltese, and Liza is Irish. Actually she's our adopted Malteser you may say. She's getting a good gist of our language with a nice irish twist ;)
These are the ppl I rely on here. They're friends to laugh with, a shoulder to cry on, or a kindred spirit to pour out your soul to. What would I do without them?
24 hr weekend
Its pretty incredible how people can grow on you so quickly. Yesterday my friend Marvin came to edinburgh for literally 24 hours, with 3 of his friends. They left about 40 minutes ago and I cant get used to the fact that my room seems so big and empty without them here too. I suppose 24 hours can be a lot of time when you spend most of that time with them.
We had a great time, lots of drinking, laughs and pranks, dancing and walking around, and food! It was a needed weekend to just let loose and have a good time. Thanks Marvin, Kerry, Gordon and Alex!
All or some?
I've suddenly realised something. The people i admire the most, those with the passion to live life to the max, the ambition to make a difference in the world they live in, who have the light inside them and let it shine, are the ones who open their hearts the most. This means that they are also the ones who get hurt the most too.
At a first glance it strikes you as being a rather unfair deal. But if your stop and think about it its a bit understandable. These people are the only ones brave enough to open themselves up to the world and feel everything that comes their way. That includes the pain and hurt too. More sheltered people don't risk themselves in that way, and hence don't get that rush of life these people get.
I think in the long run, i would rather feel it all than only feel some of it and wonder about the rest. What do you think?
The need to take a step back
Its funny how easy it is to get caught up in life. Sometimes its really necessary to stop for a minute, take a step back and look around you. If you are not aware of the life that is living around you, you are only half alive.
So whoever reads this, stop for a minute when you're out, and look around. Look at the clouds scuttling by, the buildings, the people walking past. Let it all rush by while you stop. Then you can acknowledge that you are really living life. Stopping and observing gives you the chance to take an outward look at what you are doing with your life and yourself.
Whats with the colours?
I've begun to realise that a lot of guys here in Edinburgh wear the weirdest pants ever. Most are multi colour - with pinks oranges bright yellows and blues all mixed in extraordinary ways. It really is quite entertaining, wondering what kind of random trousers are going to walk by. I have to carry a camera around and post some pics of them, so you see for yourselves.
Trying to figure it out, I came to the conclusion that its probably due to the fact that its so grey here. There arent many bright colours at this time of the year and i think these people make up for that with the wacky colours.
Lets hope thats the reason and not that they just suck at picking clothes :P
Snow is falling!
The snow was dancing everywhere! Doesnt it make great crunching noises when u walk on it? and feels great under your feet
Toni and I and SNOW!
here we are happy with our tiny quantities of snow. As we say in Maltese "qeghdin sew eh" ;)
Andrew making snow balls
Look at him scooping up the little amount of snow there was. Snow balls are remarkably hard btw
Finally Snow!
It snowed this evening! Oh how beautiful i finally feel like i am in edinburgh. I've been waiting for it to snow in months. Tru it wasnt heavy snow but it was still lovely to get out and run around in it, and throw snowballs hehe.
I havent updated in a while since there was so much happening over the last few weeks. I realised last night that i've been back 3 weeks. Only 3 weeks? It feels like an eternity.
Malta was great and i loved being back. Now its back to books and papers and assignments. At least I've got snow for comfort!
